Obama will officially announce his bid for the presidential campaign this Saturday in Springfield, IL.  Springfield is an interesting place to start a bid for presidental election when you consider the history of the city.  Abe Lincoln, the “great emancipator”, claimed Springfield as his hometown and in 1908, Springfield was host to a race riot that was sparked by a rape accusation against a black man.
