Why Pay for College…

MIT Logo

… when you can go to MIT for free? You can get the same information provided a regular student with out paying the $46,000 per year tuition.

The catch is you don’t actually get a piece of paper saying you graduated from the school. Instead, you can “take” almost all classes offered at MIT via the Internet. You have access to the syllabus, lecture notes, audio recorings, reading materials (if available), and assignments. It is called MIT OnlineCourseWare (OCW).

MIT OCW’s goals are to:

  • Provide free, search-able, access to MIT’s course materials for educators, students, and self-learners around the world.
  • Extend the reach and impact of MIT OCW and the “opencourseware” concept.

Have a look at the site, ocw.mit.edu, and browse the available classes. By the end of the year you will be able to access every class MIT has to offer.
