Blog Branding

You mostly likely recognize the brands shown above.
I have been thinking more about the topic of Blog Branding as my site continues to grow. I think most people who are trying to make a living through independent means understand the importance of branding. It can mean the difference between success and failure. Ask Coca Cola if they think branding is important – the dropped$ 1.6 billion in advertising alone last year.
As I get deeper into branding my blog I figured it might be beneficial to get some advice from people who have been or are becoming successful in this arena. I have talked personally with many of owners of the blogs contained within my “Links” page to see what they do to set themselves apart. Some of these bloggers have been so successful they can fully support themselves through the blogging medium. On the internet, making connections is just as important, if not more, when compared to brick-and-mortar businesses. Getting just one more person to link to your blog may bring in a flood of traffic you would have never seen your site otherwise. Then they tell their friends, ad infinitum.
I came across a great article at Blogger Lounge on the topic of Blog Branding that has many great tips for someone like me, who is trying to make headway and get my site recognized. I had already been asking myself many of the questions contanined in this post but a few, like, ” What about its vision? What plans do you have for the next 2 years?”, hadn’t been at the forefront.
As I get my name out there and see what works and what doesn’t, I will update this post with my experiences. Hopefully it will keep someone from making whatever mistake is in my near future.
