Mexico is South and Canada is North, You Idiot
American’s tend to be very ethnocentric. Because of this they tend to be horrible at world geography and even simple American geography. CNN wrote an article in 2006 concerning this very issue. Some of their findings were as follows:
“… 63 percent could not find Iraq or Saudi Arabia on a map, and 75 percent could not point out Iran or Israel. Forty-four percent couldn’t find any one of those four countries.”
“…half or fewer of young men and women 18-24 can identify the states of New York or Ohio on a map [50 percent and 43 percent, respectively]…”

For those of you that fail miserably, below is a entertaining refresher on the countries of the world. (You need Flash Player to view it.) The video is a little outdated so some of the newly formed Eastern European countries aren’t there nor are some of the countries that formed when the U.S.S.R. disintegrated. Aside from that you can still learn a lot.
