I use the slug when I know my title won’t make for a good URL, usually because it’s too long.

Some great tips here. Count me in as one of the folks not taking advantage of post slugs. I guess I’ll be taking a closer look at them now

Good point on the post slug.
It can be particularly useful when you think that a lot of people just copy and paste links from your blog into their own, thereby taking your slug with them. Makes for potentially more valuable links to your site from elsewhere.

Good tips. One you may have missed though is to use the Paged Comments plugin. It breaks the comments up into more pages, and some users report better pagerank because of that.

I actually use different Stats and Tags software but I’ll have to check them out. I think your spot on with the Post Slug recommendation too. Moving to a more friendly URL is essential and taking advantage of WordPress’ post slug option makes for some great tweaking.
