Back in 1999 there were a few professional packages that allowed mixing of 5:1 sound, but the interfaces were awkward.

Then a company called Techland from Poland developed a home studio audio application called Future Beat 3D, that was eventually bundled by a number of sound card manufacturers, including Creative Labs in Europe and Asia, and Aureal.
The application supported all the latest 3D sound libraries for the PC.

It didn&#039;t support 5:1 mixing because of Dolby and Patents. The licensing of Dolby technology for encoding at that time was prohibitive.

The 3D component of Future Beat 3D was my brainchild, and I was also handling all the sales/marketing.</description>

		<description>I normally use Audition or Wavelab for mixing and mastering my tracks, but this app looks really interesting and quite simple. I may just grab the demo and give it a whirl. Thumbs up to you on a nice find :)</description>
