Twitter, Reconsidered

In a previous post - about 5 months ago now - I blasted Twitter and swore I would never use it. In fact, I said, “Someone please shoot me on the spot if you ever catch me using it.” (Please don’t, I’m not ready to die!)

My reason for using it came after the realization that I had, in fact, been using various Twitter-like applications under different aliases for many months now. The culprits: Facebook and MySpace and their “status updates” function. I update those damn things all the time! Then the final nail in the coffin came when I read my issue of Wired last month. Clive Thomson, who has written for the magazine since 2002, wrote How Twitter Creates a Social Sixth-Sense and it got me thinking — I guess I can remove the code name I have been using on Twitter for the past few months (and acting like I haven’t been at least trying it out) and tell the whole world, “I Twitter”. Damn that was hard to admit.

If you care, my Twitter name is jemmille (what else would it be?)
