Update: So the Java header didn’t work out…yet.  I have to figure out what I need to do to my theme so it works properly on every page.  It seemed to only work on the homepage.  I know I need to edit my single.php and a few other pages, but time is an issue and I just need the site to work.

I have “improved” my header using some great Java. To be perfectly honest, a customer at work was trying to get something similar working on his site and I liked what he was trying to do. I found out the software he was using to create the applets was shareware and I could use it for my own site. Mouse-over the image and you can “interact”.

It took a bit of work to get it aligned correctly and working properly but the effort was worth it. If you want to give the software a try, mouse-over the header and right-click. It will take you to the download page. You can also click here.

The header image you see now (assuming you have Java installed) is going to be my default header. I have a few more tricks up my sleeve for different holiday’s. Come back and see how it changes throughout the year.

Let me know if it is slowing up the site a lot or causing you any problems. Java is nice, but a working site is better.
