Vlad Studio: The Best Wallpapers
The other day I was perusing Life Hacker, which I do at least once a week. I came across an article called Desktop Show and Tell, Windows Edition. It was a great look at how much pride people take customizing their desktops and in turn give people like me great ideas and avenues for further exploration. I use Ubuntu Linux 95% so many of the things I saw weren’t available for me to use but one thing that is universal across all operating system desktops is wallpaper. Wallpaper is, in my opinion, the best way for a user to customize their desktop and really make themselves feel comfortable at their computer. Many people use pictures from their digital camera, some use famous arts of work and others prefer a minimalist approach, opting for a solid color. Personally I like artwork. M.C. Escher often graces my desktop — his etchings and drawings always have something new to share. I saw a desktop I was particularly fond of when looking through the Life Hacker article that featured the digital art of Vlad Gerasimov. He is a young (26) Russian artist that takes digital art to a new level. His site, Vlad Studio, features hundreds of the best wallpapers I have ever seen. The art ranges from comical to deep and mysterious. Here are a few examples (click for a larger image).
These are just two of hundreds of wallpapers available. The quality and selection blows me away. You can get free versions, which say low quality, for most standard resolutions. If you want wide-screen or dual-screen versions you have to sign up for a membership. He is producing new work all the time,he even has Halloween desktops up know. Vlad’s work blows me away. It is some of the best digital art I have ever seen and I am proud to say that it now graces the desktops off all of my (5) computers.
Note: I say this every time I write a post like this. I DO NOT do reviews for pay, this review of Vlad Studio is purely out of my own love for the work he does. I in now way receive compensation for this review, in fact, I spent $20 of my own money so I could get all of the high quality and wide-screen versions of his art.
