Question:
As a pretty conservative Christian I obviously do not support homosexuals.
Why then do I enjoy watching Ellen every once in a while?
Answer:
Paul, as always, your issues are complex. Ellen bridges a gap for many people. When she came out on her show in the early 90’s many thought her career was ruined. She has broken the mold of the “typical” homosexual and has been able to become a role model for many. When it comes down to it, Ellen is just good at what she does. The fact that she is gay has nothing to do with her talent as an entertainer and obviously even you, the conservative christian (note, spell-checker is mad I didn’t capitalize christian), can’t deny her talent.

Question:
What plugin do you use for your social bookmarking icons on each post? Maybe you use one I haven’t heard of since I only come across bad ones
Answer:
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I actually use a version of the Socialble plugin that I customized for my site. You can download it from my site. I wrote a post about it
here.
Question:
Who’s your favorite super hero and super villain?
Answer:
My favorite superhero, since I watched the movie with my dad when I was a young boy, has always been Superman. He has every power I have ever wanted. I used to have dreams about flying around my neighborhood looking out for wrongdoers and zapping them with heat vision from the sky.
My favorite super villain is the Joker from Batman. I used to watch the old Batman (circa 1960’s) when I was a young kid in the 1980’s. My favorite episode was the Joker trying to use a giant magnifying glass to “toast” Batman and Robin. When Jack Nicholson played him in the first movie version in the late 80’s I was ecstatic. I probably watch the movie on VHS 50 times after it came out.
Thanks for the great question!

Javascript. It’s setup as a Wordpress plugin but I’m sure it could be easily modified to suit your site.

Do you ever feel like a magic 8 ball?
Answer:
Shaken and unsure of what I am really trying to say or full of answers? I guess, depending on the moment, I am both.

Question:
How come people tell you not to stand in front of an emergency exit when if there was an emergency surely you would run through it?
Answer:
That one has always made me wonder. Seems like a perfectly good place to stand — you would surely be a survivor “in case of emergency”.

Question:
If it is so important for me to have the word type permalinks, then why does Wordpress default to the number…and more importantly does it really matter?
Answer:
I guess it only matters if you want your content to be found. For example: 4 months ago (almost 5) if you typed “jemmille” into Google you got about 1 page of results. Now you get 18,900. Wordpress defaults to numbers because some (older) servers don’t support “nice looking” permalinks.

Question:
Do you know if you are allowed to use photos from Flickr to post on your blog (assuming you give the author credit and add their link)?
Thanks. –Louis
Answer:
Yes you can. When people post their photos on Flickr they become public domain. This use is accepted (and even encouraged!). However, pages on other websites which display images hosted on flickr.com must provide a link back to Flickr from each photo to its photo page on Flickr. The only exception to this is if the images you are using are already copyright protected and they shouldn’t have been on Flickr in the first place. For example, if someone had a picture of the Coca-Cola logo on their Flickr page you couldn’t use it. They shouldn’t have it there either. Hope this helps.

Question:
Will I ever find love?
Answer:
No Paul…you won’t. You are forever unlovable and have no future. Maybe if your blog was better and you didn’t keep screwing up everything you could find someone.
P.S. Just kidding Paul. I think the love of your son is enough for now. Focus on being yourself and you love will come to you. You are one of the coolest people I know and I have no doubt that when you least expect it, love will come calling. (Is that “Love Lines” enough for you?)
Question:
hello jemmille,
i have a question.
when i open my site www.hem.com.np in opera the two sidebar backgraounds are black which is not a normal behaviour.. the site opens fine in IE nd mozilla
will u help me find out wots wrong in my site
i use theme from http://www.sosuechtig.de/
thoug this site opens fine in opera…
waiting for ur reply
Answer:
Start here: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.hem.com.np
You have 121 errors in your HTML. (Just in case… if you check mine, I know I have 80+. They are from various plug-ins not being valid XHTML, etc.)
After you fix most - but preferably all of these - see if you still have the same problem. Fix them one by one then re-validate after each fix. Some times fixing one ends up correcting a lot more down the line. Valid XHTML can be a real bitch sometimes, so don’t get too frustrated. If you can get it under 20 you are in good shape. Zero, of course, is best.
The good news for you is that only a handful of people use the Opera browser, so most people will see your normal orange and green backgrounds.
Get back to me once you have the errors down. If you need help, check out http://www.w3schools.com/ Lots of good on CSS, XHTML, and more.
Question:
Where do u live.. how old are u ? what do u do except blogging ?
Answer:
Hi Hem,
I live in Michigan and I am 27. Besides blogging I take care of my kids - 3 of them. Right now I am in the process of interconnecting all of my sites into my parent company jemmille Networks, LLC Many of the sites are in developmental phase (it’s hard to run 5 sites on your own) but I will be rolling out some new things soon. It’s all very hush-hush
In short, I work from home, develop websites and blog full time. Thanks for your question.
JJ is pondering:

Question:
Is there any way that I can un-corrupt a PowerPoint presentation from 2004 that I’m now unable to open?
Answer:
Oh JJ, you take me back to my days as a computer consultant. In short, yes, you should be able to recover it. Lets start with the basics. Are you trying to open the file with an older or newer version of Office? Is the file password protected?
If neither of these is the case then the file is most likely corrupt. All is not lost! You can try a few more things.
Power Point (PP) has an “import slides from file”. It can be found under the “Insert” menu. Often PP will be able to at minimum dig the text from the slides out of the file. Still stuck? Try opening the file in MS Word. Really! If those things don’t work you can try a couple more things. Start the computer in safe mode and try to open it or look for a .tmp file of the same name. Rename it to .ppt then try to open it. (This won’t work in your case since the file is from 2004.)
If none of this works your last option is to use a 3rd party recovery tool. I would only do this if the file is REALLY crucial. That’s all I know.
My advice — back it up next time. Hope this helps.
